Review transit experience at Ho Chi Minh City Airport

Here is my review of Vietjet along with the transit experience at Ho-chi-minh city airport. There are many other reviews as well so be sure to use the search function and look them up as well.

Here are some FAQ's. Hope you get your answer.

1. Is transit visa required for connecting flights?

No, if the transit time is less than 24 hours and both flights are of Vietjet, there is no requirement for any visa although I recommend getting a visa and exploring Vietnam. Apparently , they are considering to make visa-on-arrival for Indians in the near future because of the number of Indian travelers so keep your eyes on their website. The Vietjet call centre told me that If I book seperate tickets, and get 2 different PNR's, I will require a visa but since I booked directly from Vietjet"s website, there was no problem at all.

2. Do I get a meal on the plane?

Yes, If you have pre-booked a meal or If you buy one. Not for free.
There is no provision for water , so buy your own bottle before you board.

3. What facilities are available at Ho-chi-minh which I can use during my transit period?

The 10 hour transit is a very tiring process. The airport is basic with not much leisure spots other than restaurants and cafes. The only good thing available was the sleeping pod (See the attached pictures) which I rented for 2 hours and used it for everything besides sleeping. 1 hour costs 7 dollars. (approx. 583 INR)

4. Luggage restrictions

I booked the deluxe class which allows carry on as well as 20kg check-in baggage. If you book the basic economy fare YOU CANNOT CARRY THE CHECK IN LUGGAGE for free so beware. Its better choose the deluxe class which gives more space. I normally travel light (my check in baggage was a mere 5 kgs) looking back I think the basic fare only suits people like me.
The basic economy fare also dosent allow any cancellations so overall I feel that the deluxe ticket fare is a better choice.

That sums up the important parts. I dont think I might be able to respond to all the comments so dont feel bad if I leave this post hanging just like this. Cheers and happy travels!
