THE BIGGEST MISTAKES I REGRET ON MY FIRST TRIP TO JAPAN

The first trip to Japan is always full of emotions... but honestly, I made quite a few mistakes 😅 Writing them here so anyone about to go to Japan for the first time can avoid whichever ones they can 👇

❌ Stayed in Kyoto too few days
Kyoto isn't the type of "just visit for the sake of it." So much to explore, the vibe is leisurely, very Japanese. Yet most people do the Kyoto – Osaka – Tokyo combo and just breeze through Kyoto. Real mistake 🥲

❌ Booked the wrong Shinkansen seat
Want to see Mount Fuji from the bullet train but sit on the wrong side? That's it, no fate 🥹
👉 Going from Tokyo → Osaka, sit on the RIGHT side, choose seat E (or seat D if in Green Car)!

❌ Stayed in a hotel far from the station
Excited to see it cheap when booking...
But after a day of walking until your feet hurt, having to drag another 10–15 minutes to the hotel? Just want to cry 😭
👉 Might be a bit more expensive, but staying near the station is true love.

❌ Didn't bring an empty suitcase
Because of lack of space, I couldn't buy much stuff 😭
Everyone advises bringing an extra suitcase for a reason. Buying on-site (within limits) is still less regrettable than coming home and regretting it.

❌ Bought overly expensive insurance
Confession: I paid a "crazy" price 🥲
On the next trip, after researching thoroughly, I found many cheaper options nearly half the price, with good coverage (even ski insurance).
👉 Lesson: remember to compare before buying!

Hope these mistakes I shared will make your first trip more perfect 💛
Anyone have more "first time to Japan" mistakes? Tell me 😆🇯🇵
