Starlink satellite internet service places four ground stations in Vietnam
Starlink, Elon Musk's satellite Internet service, places four ground stations (gateways) in Phu Tho, Da Nang, and two locations in Ho Chi Minh City.
According to the license issued by the Radio Frequency Administration - Ministry of Science and Technology, Starlink Services Vietnam Company is permitted to use frequencies and install radio equipment for fixed satellite services in Lien Chieu 2 Ward (Da Nang), Binh Nguyen Commune (Phu Tho), Tang Nhon Phu Ward, and Tan Thuan Ward (Ho Chi Minh City).
Starlink satellites operate in low Earth orbit, 550 km from the ground, while traditional satellite Internet uses geostationary satellites at over 35,000 km altitude. The shorter distance helps reduce data transmission time, resulting in lower latency compared to traditional satellite Internet services.
